Children at the Findlay Street Feast Part One

Last Saturday, on a whim, Polly and I decided to drive to Findlay, Ohio and poke around a bit. We were delighted to find out that The Arts Partnership was holding its first ever Street Feast between Front Street. and West Main Cross Street. The event was held to raise money for The Arts Partnership. Please read my previous posts on the Street Feast titled, Jamming at the Findlay Street Feast and Children at the Findlay Street Feast Part Two.

Throughout the evening, children would play and dance to the music towards the front of stage. We found their youthful enthusiasm quite entertaining.

Jamming at the Findlay Street Feast

Last Saturday, on a whim, Polly and I decided to drive to Findlay, Ohio and poke around a bit. We were delighted to find out that The Arts Partnership was holding its first ever Street Feast between Front Street. and West Main Cross Street. The event was held to raise money for The Arts Partnership.

We arrived at the Street Feast around 5:15 PM, parking in a handicapped spot at the rear of the Hancock County Courthouse.  A light crowd milled about, chatting, drinking beer, and eating food from the vendors that lined both sides of venue. Later in the evening, the crowd grew quite large, a vote, I hope, that tells The Art Partnership that their event was a success. Polly and I, along with our daughter Bethany,  planned to stay for a short while, listen to some music, and then head off to eat at nearby Alexandria’s Gastropub. Instead, we found the music acts of such quality that we stayed to listen to all three bands: Ryan Parker Band, James and Some No Names, and Joshua Melton, play most of their sets.

Please read my prevous posts of the Street Feast titled, Children at the Findlay Street Feast Part One and Children at the Findlay Street Feast Part Two.

Hanging Out with the Seagulls Near Lake Michigan

Earlier this year, my wife and I drove up to South Haven, Michigan to watch a Lake Michigan sunset. While the sunset left a lot to be desired, we did find the seagulls quite entertaining.

Wilson’s Sandwich Shop, Findlay, Ohio

Wilson’s Sandwich Shop, located at 600 South Main Street in downtown Findlay, Ohio, is one of my favorite places to eat when I am in Findlay and have a craving for a hamburger. While Wilson’s burgers certainly don’t  quite measure to those served up at nearby Alexandria’s Gastropub, there’s something familiar and comforting about a Wilson’s sandwich.  Established in 1936, little has changed at Wilson’s since my high school days in the 1970s. And that’s fine with me. I enjoy eating at  Wilson’s because I don’t have to think about what I want to order. Hamburger, please, with ketchup, mustard, onion, and pickle.

The next time you find yourself hungry as you travel along I-75 near Findlay, Ohio, exit and make your way downtown to Wilson’s Yes, you will pass Wendy’s and McDonald’s, and a host of other fast food restaurants, but leave them for another day and eat at Findlay’s oldest sandwich shop.
